It is great to see that the Winter Gardens roof has finally been repaired. There’s been scaffolding and plastic sheets flapping in the wind for years. Now you can look out of Alexandra Gardens bedroom windows and see this sight. *Edit* sadly this was short lived and there are now more plastic sheets flapping in the wind with the building only open on rare occasions.

As King Charles III’s coronation gets closer, why not look back at how Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation was celebrated in Alexandra Gardens in 1953. It was described in the local paper as “the gayest part of the town, excluding the main streets … which had the brightest and most colourful bunting exhibited. At night, these decorations were shown up beautifully by the floodlights.”
